Mentoring writers

I hope to be the writing mentor I never found.

I spent decades searching for writing mentors in classes and workshops. I got plenty of what-do-I-do-with-a-fantasy-writer reactions, but never found a mentor to help me figure out what areas of craft to focus on improving or next steps in reaching my publishing goals.

A writing mentor can be a coach, and editor, or a cheerleader. First and foremost, I listen to what you want and need as a writer, then I support you in reaching your goals.

If you need that TV-character editor/agent who hounds you into finishing your manuscript, I can help. If you need an editor for your manuscript, I can help. If you’re ready to finally start that book you’ve always wanted to write and just don’t know quite how, I can help!

And if all you want is some help with a query letter, I can do that, too.

I am also committed to accessibility. This means offering phone/video calls or email check-ins, competitive pricing, and flexible payment options. This also means I love working with genres other than SFF. And your stories remain your own, always!

Does this sound like something that could help you? Then please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Whatever you provide will only be used to schedule a completely free intake call to make sure we’re a good fit for working together.

For an idea of my pricing, here are a few (but not all) of the services I offer and their costs:

ServicePrice*
Query letters (fiction only)$50
Developmental edit$0.03/word
Copy edit$0.02/word
Proofread$0.01/word
*Prices subject to change.
