Blogging Blather

The awesome part about participating in a group blog on writing: I have begun to feel less like an impostor.

From the age of eight, I knew I was going to be a writer. I wrote as much as possible, made as many mistakes as possible.  I read widely and voraciously. And I read anything I could get my hands on about the craft of writing. Even as a kid, I knew that a lot of what I read did not apply to me.

I have spent two decades learning how to tell stories by trial and error — what does and does not work for me. But who would actually bother to listen to what I have to say?

Part of my original intention with this blog was to talk about writing, my opinions and experiences, but I haven’t. At least, not the way I do over at Anxiety Ink. Good old Insecurity, rearing it’s ugly, ugly head again.

But in the few weeks since the group blog began, I’ve discovered an improvement in my ability to articulate my thoughts on anything to do with writing. I’ve even given advice on providing feedback when that feedback is certainly not going to be what the author wants to hear.

The less awesome part of group blog responsibilities? It runs the risk of delaying my posts over here. This is an ongoing experiment…
