I woke up the first morning of the month to snow. It didn’t stay more than a day or two, but it was undeniably snow. (And the blog is snowing, too!) Winter may not officially start until the solstice, but the season doesn’t care much about the sun. It’s winter, after all.
I, on the other hand, am counting the time to solstice, when the days start getting longer again.
Speaking of Winter, the Kickstarter was not successfully funded. We had a good run, and it’s definitely a learning experience for the future. To any of you who backed the project, thank you!
I love winter. Actually, I love all the seasons. That was one of the things I liked least about living in Seattle, actually: as long and brilliant and amazing as the springs were out there, the seasons tended to run together. It felt temporally detached, and that drove me crazy.
But winter is my active season. Shoveling, hauling wood, snowshoeing . . . Writing is a sedentary activity, and my new job is hardly more physically demanding, so I enjoy all the reasons to get out and be active. This is the opposite of most people, but if I have to do it anyway, why not enjoy it?
The new job is taking some getting used to. Not the work or the people, but the sleep schedule and the fact that so much less of my time is my own. Tonight will be my first attempt to unplug from all screens by 9pm and write for the remainder of the evening. Time management now has to be a Thing. It’s just day two, so wish me luck!
